Sami Selio on Pole in Liuzhou
LIUZHOU, China – Tuesday, 6th of October, 2009 – The start of the 2009 GP of Liuzhou is less than three hours away and with 2008 World champion Sami Selio clinching pole position from reigning champion Jay Price in the last few minutes of qualifying, with Ahmed Al Hameli and Guido Cappellini rounding off the top four.
Thousands of spectators are already lining the 1.630 meters, 5 pin race circuit of the River Liu in temperatures in excess of 30 degrees under a hot sun and blue skies. Eighteen drivers representing twelve nations will be lining up for the 7th round of the 2009 World Series with championship leader Thani Al Qamzi starting from 6th on the grid behind Francesco Cantando. Australian Craig Bailey, standing in for the injured Brit Andy Elliott is starting his first F1 GP since 1999 and lies 17th on the grid ahead of Rinaldo Osculati which sees Mad Croc drivers at the front and back of the start pontoon.
